Sir,
I’m a sales representative and get my share of a couple thousand kilometres travelled every month; my monthly visit to Dundee in September had something of a nostalgic experience to it.
It was time for dinner and I decided to try some old-fashioned fish and chips at Amigo’s Fish & Chips in Dundee – this choice was definitely the right one.
Being brought up in my dad’s fish and chips shop (which was not something I was proud of at the time), I had the luxury of indulging in a ‘fish ‘n chips night’ whenever I wanted. Good fish and chips shops have become something of a rare find: I’m not talking about the new crop of franchised concepts that have decided to open up in every town – they just don’t have that authentic, local ‘fish ‘n chip shop’ feel to them.
I was truly in my element as I stepped into Amigo’s. Firstly, the shop was clean and did not have the smell of old oil lingering in the air. Fresh oil is the key to good-tasting fish and chips. I remember the days of my dad having the ‘Best Fish ‘n Chips In Town’ title; it could be compared to a proud beauty queen wearing her sash at every opportunity. It was a title that took hard, dedicated hours of work to achieve.
So congratulations to Amigo’s Fish & Chips in Dundee: the fish and chips were superb, fresh and fried to perfection. Last but not least, to be greeted by friendly staff is also becoming something rare, so well done to the staff and thank you for a warm and welcoming experience.
Thank you, Amigo’s, for making me go back to the days…
To all the lucky locals in Dundee, you have a true gem on your doorstep to enjoy, something that I will only have the pleasure of enjoying once a month.
