Dear Editor,

Yesterday (Wednesday) while waiting in the car outside Dr Greaves’s rooms I saw a family, husband, wife, little girl and bigger boy looking up into a tree. The tree was bare except for what I thought was one leaf near the top.

The husband then started climbing up the tree, and I put on my glasses to take a closer look.

That ‘one leaf’ was in fact a little bird that had been caught in fishing line and had by now tangled itself to the point that it was now hanging there with the odd flutter. This man climbed the tree on such small branches, I was stressed he was going to fall. In the end he managed to catch hold of the branch that was holding the line on which the bird was tangled. He broke off the line from the branch and lowered the bird on the line to his wife and children on the ground below. They untangled the little bird and we watched him fly off. I don’t know who this family is, but was so touched by this act of kindness. This is truly a family with a heart!
