Sir,
After months and months of hard work, election day has finally arrived. One of the most important things which all of us should do is pray for a free, fair and peaceful election.
I wish all participating parties all the best, and am certain that their hard work will pay off. I also express gratitude to the ANC election staff, many of whom are fairly new to the ANC and election work – I am sure that they learnt a lot and enjoyed the door-to-door campaigns. This is the work that thousands of comrades from Endumeni have been involved in since 1994; many have passed on, but their legacy will live on.
Allow me to single out a few comrades who have passed away over the years. Patrick and Freddy Nelson, Bheki Ntombela (who brought me to the ANC), Mama Mhlungu, Grishen Bujram and Dumisani (Mkababs). These were stalwarts who kept the ANC alive over the past twenty years. I can remember 1994, when we placed flags of former ANC Presidents on each pole. It was the year that the ANC first won control of the KZN province. It was an exciting year.
To undecided voters I suggest that rather than wasting your votes, vote ANC. The ANC is not just about Nkandla and whatever else the media chooses to feed to the public. On Sunday the President of the ANC captured twenty years of hard work put in by the ANC in rebuilding our country. No political party is perfect, certainly not us, but we learn from our own mistakes.
I therefore look forward to seeing a huge number of people, especially from the white, coloured and Indian communities, showing their faith in the ANC. God bless the voters.
