Dear Sir,
I am writing in response to a previous article on the cops busted with dagga, published on April 23 on your website.
The article was shocking to me, as many rely on the police to protect justice.
It’s clear the cancer of corruption in all areas of society is spreading at a rapid rate, leaving the man on the street high and dry when it comes to the enforcement of the law.
The SAPS are the ones who should be setting an example, not helping crime to succeed.
In the article, it mentions that the dagga was confiscated from another woman, which leaves me wondering how many other pieces of evidence are taken/stolen/lost/destroyed through negligence each year.
The Oscar Pistorius trial has proven how important the preservation of evidence really is.
On another note, I would like to commend the police officers who sprung the trap for the dagga cops, putting the rule of law ahead of any personal feelings in the matter.
I hope the arrested cops enjoy their time in prison.
To all police officers who remain true to correctly enforcing justice, I salute and commend you on your part in keeping a spark of hope alive.
