Please help the animals at the kennels

The AACL relies on donations to survive, please help them

The Animal Anti-Cruelty League (AACL) is appealing to businesses and members of the public for their help. The AACL is in desperate need of a stationery cabinet for the office, and blankets and food for the animals.

There are currently many cats at the kennels that are looking for kind and loving homes, and they need to be fed while they wait for their new family to adopt them. The league would also like to ask the public, as well as businesses, to donate when they take ‘stray’ animals to the kennels. These animals need to be sheltered and fed at the kennels, and the kennels survive solely on donations. If these animals do not find a home and they have to be put down, this process also costs the league money. Please keep this in mind when taking animals to the kennels.

The Yorkshire Terrier and the Jack Russell featured in last week’s Gazette have both been claimed by their families and have gone home. There is a cute little black and white female puppy that was found in the Mkhamba Gardens area. Please collect her if she belongs to you, as she will be so happy to go home! There are also other dogs and cats in dire need of loving owners.

We are happy to report that 12 dogs have been adopted this month so far. Let’s increase that number! Just a reminder that the annual Dog-a-Thon will be held on May 31 at Egerton’s Agar Sports Field. Registration is from 2pm and the walk will start at 3pm, so be sure to bring your dog to join in all the fun. Thanks this week goes to Pierre Massyn, Spar and Tugela Press.
