THE AbaQulusi Residents Association had its Annual General Meeting on Thursday, February 27, in the Library Hall. The attendance numbers were reasonable but could still be better. Six good citizens volunteered to become committee members so we now have new blood and we hope new ideas to improve the performance of the ARA. We are going to try and see if we can get bulk SMS systems and bulk emailing systems set up to communicate with our paid up 2014 members. At present we have the “AbaQulusi Residents Association” Face Book page, and also the Vryheid Herald is a great help in keeping members updated. There will be no quick or easy victories but “aluta continua”, the struggle continues to fight for honest, efficient and good service delivery to all the communities of AbaQulusi for the heavy rates and taxes we are forced to pay. The government has instituted a “turn around policy” for local government and this is what the ARA would like to see in AbaQulusi. Why should our children have to migrate to foreign lands when South Africa, with proper government and good service delivery can become a paradise.
