People take to crime to survive

‘Sympathetic’ writes:- I SYMPATHISE with the people who are driven to protest against the high levels of crime, against the inability of the police to significantly deter criminals, and against a justice system that is perceived to favour the criminal over the victim.
I am fortunate in that my circumstances have not driven me to survival crime, which I believe a lot of crimes are. People take to crime to survive, there being no jobs.
I do not believe people are born criminals. Robbery, theft, burglary, hijacking, crimes where property is exchanged, are, I believe, often survival crimes. If that is true, we are in for an extended period of such crimes.
Perhaps we’ll always have them because there is no way that the number of jobs will ever equal the number of jobless. In fact the situation is bound to get worse each year.
The only solution is birth control. We have to slow our population growth. If we don’t, we’re doomed to have crime for ever and ever, Amen.
