Volksrust High’s Choir shines at the 25th Newcastle High School Choir Festival

On Friday evening, Volksrust High School Choir, along with Banyana Ba Gwijo, participated in the 25th Newcastle High School Choir Festival in Newcastle.

The event saw our school join nine other choirs in a celebration of music and culture.

Volksrust High presented a traditional program that captivated the audience. However, it was Banyana Ba Gwijo who stole the show with a powerful performance of a song dedicated to women.

The piece, performed in honour of Women’s Month, carried a strong message against violence towards women, resonating deeply with everyone present.

The evening was filled with incredible performances and ran late into the night.

The festival concluded with a mass choir performance of the song “Ihanya Mahala,” bringing all the participating choirs together in a beautiful and harmonious finale.

This event was a memorable celebration of talent and a strong reminder of the power of music to unite and inspire.
