Sport is flourishing at VHS

The tennis teams also started on a high note

On Saturday, Vryheid High Schoolā€™s soccer teams participated in the Sarel Cilliers soccer tournament. These teams included boysā€™ U/17, first team boys and first team girls. The U/17 boys did so well that they ended up in the semi-finals. The U/17 boysā€™ scores were as follows: 2-0 against Ethangeni Combined School, 0-0 against Sarel Cilliers and they lost on penalties against Newcastle High School. The first team boys lost 0-2 against Boschkloof and 1-0 against Landbou High School. The First team girls lost 0-1 against Thalana High School and drew 0-0 against Newcastle High School. These were the first games for all the VHS soccer teams. ā€œWe are confident that all our soccer teams will have a prosperous season ahead.ā€
The cricket girls participated in the Super 8 Festival. The results were as follows: lost against Ferrum High School, lost against Newcastle High School, lost against Pionier and won against Sarel Cilliers. The school wishes the cricket girls all the best for the season that lies ahead.
The tennis teams also started on a high note. Both the boysā€™ and girlsā€™ teams played against Sarel Cilliers and the scores were as follows: doubles 3-2; singles 0-5 (girls); and 4-2 (boys). Furthermore, the tennis teams also played against Newcastle High School. The scores were: doubles 3-2, singles 2-3 (girls) and 6-0 (boys).
VHS is proud of all their teams and wish them all the best for the season!
