Outstanding results for VHS against Amajuba High School

VHS is now looking forward to their first Super 8 League games

On Sunday, Vryheid High School (VHS) played their first winter sport season games against Amajuba High School in Newcastle. It was a very successful day for VHS, as almost all the teams won their matches. Teams that participated included: chess, rugby, netball and hockey.

The chess players showed a high level of intellect, having only lost four games from 2022 to 2024. They played against Amajuba High School and won 9-1. Melokuhle Zulu (the youngest player) had an opportunity to play two official games and one friendly game; he won all three games in an instant. VHS prides itself on such talent!
Two rugby teams participated; the U/15s and the first team. The U/15s won 29-0 and the first team showcased excellent rugby skills as they won 60-12. The first team game was initially intense, as Amajuba threw all they had into the match. VHS, however, demonstrated a fighting spirit in the second half as more tries were scored and this led to the convincing win.

The netball results were as follows: U/14 won 11–3, U/15 B won 6–3, U/16 A won 16–3, second team won 15–6 and first team won 37–9. VHS is proud of the netball teams for winning all their games.
The hockey teams played against Amajuba High School and also took part in the St Dominic’s Festival. The first team girls won 4–0 against Amajuba, but unfortunately the U/16s lost 0–1. The first team boys participated in the St Dominic’s Festival and the results were as follows: 0-1 against Dundee, 0–2 against Ferrum, 0–3 against Ladysmith, and 0–0 against Ferrum. Congratulations to Sethu Balledon for receiving the ‘Goalkeeper of the Tournament’ award in Pool A. Mr Boock was recognised as the best umpire of Pool A and he umpired the finals.
VHS is now looking forward to their first Super 8 League games this coming Saturday.
