Landbou’s learning spirit prevails

“Let greatness not just find you but let it find you qualified, fit and ready for it to be your finest hour!”

Sports

Over the December holidays, Kwandokuhle Duma and Luthando Mkwhanazi represented KwaZulu-Natal in the junior juksei tournament in Kroonstad. They learnt a lot and had loads of fun.
Rugby honours
The first team rugby boys received a rare commodity during last week’s assembly, the first honours cap. It is called an honour’s cap because it is not only an honour to wear it but also for those who see you wearing it to honour you for your achievement, hard work and dedication. They were all proud to receive their caps and to get to represent their school at such a prestigious level. These boys are trailblazers, leading the school forward through their dedication and determination. As Mr Nkosi said: “Let greatness not just find you but let it find you qualified, fit and ready for it to be your finest hour!”

Congratulations to all learners who participated in the relay event held at Vryheid High School. Despite the gruelling heat, the teams did very well and did a brilliant job representing Landbou. The u15 girls, u/19 girls and u/19 boys all received bronze medals. The u/16 boys were the stars of the night, receiving a gold medal.

Over the weekend, the school attended sports at Ferrum High School. The rugby scores were as follows:

u/16 won 27 – 5 against Empangeni.

The second team lost 5 – 35 to Ferrum.

The first team lost 5 – 15 to Ferrum.

The first team won 17 – 12 against Vryheid High. Well done, boys!

Well done to the netball girls who played with a lot of heart:

They lost 19 – 8 to Ferrum but won 24 – 10 against Vryheid High.

Academics
Congratulations to Samkelisiwe Khumalo, Landbou’s 2023 Dux who received the highest results in Ward 9. ‘’We are exceptionally proud of you.

Othello production-

The Matrics attended a brilliant theatre production of Othello at Dundee High, along with a few other schools from the area. This was an incredible educational opportunity and beneficial to everyone. ‘Thank you to Dundee High for hosting the theatre team and providing other schools with this brilliant opportunity to see a Shakespearean play as it is meant to be performed.
Open day

The open day will be held on April 20. This is a perfect time to come see for yourself the inner workings of Landbou and perhaps fall in love with our amazing school grounds, staff and learners.
