From the walk-in, the main ceremony, the food to the dance floor, the VHS Matric Ball was filled with great extravagance and excitement.
A matric farewell is a once in a life time event that should be well prepared and Vryheid High School displayed commendable preparation skills as the matric ball was outstanding.
The grade 12 learners also played a vital role in ensuring that their farewell was elegant and enjoyable. The luxurious cars seen at the entrance and the lavish outfits worn by those who attended added to the occasion.

Subsequent to the Matric Farewell, VHS staff members and the community of Vryheid at large enjoyed an exquisite dance at in the school hall on July 22 where a mouth-watering spit braai was enjoyed by all. Guests were also entertained with live music performances and hidden talents were revealed as staff members and parents ttook to the dance floor. In his vote of thanks, Anthony James (SGB Chairman) exclaimed that ‘it was really amazing to see everyone come together, party together and have fun together.’
“This event was a great success and I am sure it will become an annual event. Once again, thank you.”

Dynamite does come in small packages! It was a proud moment for the VHS grade 8 learners and parents as the school honoured the grade’s top achievers.
Regardless of being juniors and subjected to more challenging academic pressure in high school, VHS grade 8 learners proved that they can withstand any academic pressure that may come their way. VHS was proud to honour L Small, M Chituku, L Ndlovu, N Zondi, Z Wagner, A Mahlaba, S Thabethe, E Ndwandwe, D de Beer and N Sujee for making it into the top 10 academic achievers. These learners displayed diligence and dedication to their school work in the second term and have reaped what they have sown throughout the term.

On August 3, VHS hosted a parents evening where parents met with their children’s educators and had fruitful discussions pertaining to the learners’ academics. VHS will always encourage the involvement of parents in our learners’ academics. In her remarks, headmistress, A Nel, stressed the importance of the involvement of parents in the learners’ academics and thanked the parents for showing interest in their children’s academics.
