Learners take on leadership positions

The learners were entrusted to lead with responsibility, pride, respect and accountability

On March 13, a very special ceremony took place at Drakensview Primary School.

For the first time in many years, prefects and head prefects were appointed at the school.

It was a ceremony where the parents had the honour of pinning each prefect’s badge for them.

The principal and deputy principal handed over ‘Ductus’ (the symbol of authority) to the head prefects.

‘Ductus’ means ‘leadership’ in Latin, and the name was given to a sculpture of a Lammergeier which will be handed to each set of prefects once they take over each year.

The Ductus is a symbol by which the prefects are expected to follow and show the following qualities in their time of duty – responsibility, pride, respect and accountability.

The educators and School Management Team are extremely proud of these learners and know that they will excel in their leadership positions.
