Blood buddies team up to learn more

Blood Peer Promoters had an educational and fun day

The South African National Blood Service (SANBS) hosted the annual ‘Blood Peer Promoters’ function at Ascot Inn in Pietermaritzburg recently.

The event was most informative, explaining all the duties of peer promoters at schools and explaining the roles they have to play in their schools and communities.

The importance of blood donation was also highlighted. Learners were informed about the requirements for blood donation and what happens to the donated blood.

A fun aspect was added when peer promoters went head-first into activities such as singing, poetry and dancing. They were all given badges and goodies.

The peer promoters are Anna Madiba, Tanya Elias, Nomvelo Ndlovu, Owami Ndlovu (from Estcourt Secondary School), Samukelo Nxumalo, Olwethuthando Nhlanga, Noluvo Mazibuko, Zibusiso Sibisi and Aphiwe Khanyile (from Estcourt High School). The learners were grateful to their teachers, Mrs Tshezi (Estcourt High School deputy principal) and Ms Gasela from Estcourt Secondary School.
