Pionier Primary School welcomes new headmistress, Mrs Marni Horn
She made history as the first female principal since 1967 when the Pionier Junior School (Red School) and Pionier Senior School (White School) merged and began functioning as Laerskool Pionier:
Mrs Marni Horn has been appointed as the new principal of Laerskool Pionier from 1 March 2023.
She made history as the first female principal since 1967 when the Pionier Junior School (Red School) and Pionier Senior School (White School) merged and began functioning as Laerskool Pionier.
She grew up in Newcastle where she attended school at Huttenpark Primary and matriculated in 1999 at Newcastle High School.
She obtained her B Ed Degree, as well as her honours degree, at the University of Pretoria where she also served on the student council from her second year. She received an award for outstanding leadership at the University.

Gedurende haar skooljare, beide in die Laerskool en ook in die hoërskool behaal sy Noord-Natal-kleure in netbal en neem gevolglik ook deel aan die Suid-Afrikaanse netbalkampioenskappe.
Op universiteit word sy ingesluit in die Tuks Netbalspan vanaf 2000 tot 2003. Sy speel aksie-netbal vir die Centurion Blou Bulle vanaf 2003 tot 2005.
Vanaf 2004 tot 2006 speel sy vir Pretoria korfbal.
Sy begin haar onderwysloopbaan by Laerskool Hennopspark. Sy tree in die huwelik met Jacques Horn en sit haar loopbaan voort by Laerskool Standerton.
In 2012 begin sy werk by Pionier waar sy die afgelope klompie jare haarself onderskei het as ‘n uitstekende onderwyseres wat altyd leiding geneem het.
Sy bemagtig haarself deur verdere kursusse en diplomas te verwerf. Sy is Pionier se netbalorganiseerder van 2022 tot huidiglik.
Op die beheerliggaam behartig sy die Tegnologie en Mediaportefeulje. Op kultuurgebied het sy ervaring vanaf 2008 tot 2011 in die afrig van kore en skryf ook graag konserte.
