KZN’s Class of 2022 makes marked improvement

An improvement was noted in the national pass rate, from 76.4% to 80.1%

The atmosphere was  abuzz at local high schools this morning (January 20) as the Class of 2022 returned to school to receive their statement of results after the National Senior Certificate (NSC) examination results were released yesterday (January 19).

Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga announced that KwaZulu-Natal was the best-improved province, with a pass rate of 83%,  an increase of 6.2%.

Drakensberg Secondary School’s Urvashini Pillay has been invited to be part of the provincial awards ceremony taking place in Durban today (January 20).

This awards ceremony is hosted by MEC Mbali Fraser to recognise excellence and reward the top performing learners in the province.

The 2022 matric pass rate is as follows:

 

Free State 88.5%

Gauteng 84.4%

KwaZulu-Natal 83%

Western Cape 81%

North West 79.8%

Eastern Cape 77.3%

Mpumalanga 76.8%

Northern Cape 74.2%

Limpopo 72.1%
