Cricket teams met for the inaugural Northern KZN U/13 Cricket Festival

Drakensview Primary School was selected to host the inaugural Northern KZN U/13 Cricket Festival from September 30 to October 2.
Newcastle hosted the Super 8 Festival during the same weekend.

The Northern KZN U/13 Cricket Festival included Drakensview Primary, Glencoe Primary, Uelzen Primary and Hamilton Preparatory schools.

Each school played five games over the weekend – three T20 games and two 30-over games.

Rickesh Lutchman with Savian Naidu from Drakensview Primary School, who received an award for ‘Best Player of the Festival’.

The format of the tournament was a round robin and the top two teams progressed to play in the final on Sunday; the third- and fourth-placed teams had a play-off as well.

Drakensview Primary School and Glencoe Primary School played the final on Sunday, with Glencoe emerging victorious and lifting the trophy.

It was a successful weekend promoting the game of cricket, and the level of play and sportsmanship was enjoyed by all.

Drakensview Primary School would like to congratulate Glencoe Primary School on their victory and thank all who contributed to making the festival a success. A special thank you to Colita Cricket Club for their support and assistance during the weekend.
