Special Awards Assembly honours top achievers

Mr Chad Moses, Executive Head, began the event with an address and prayer, followed by entertainment from the 'Find Your Voice' ensemble group.

A special Awards Assembly was held for St Dominics Newcastle learners from Grade R to 12 on the morning of August 31 at the Douthwaite Centre.

The event began with an address and prayer by Executive Head, Mr Chad Moses, followed by entertainment from the ‘Find Your Voice’ ensemble group.

Presentations of the awards began shortly after.

Here were the recipients:
High School:
– Zanokuhle Ngubane – Full Colours for Northern Natal youth choir
– Amahle Kubheka – Full Colours for Northern Natal youth choir
– Esihle Tshabalala – Full Colours for Northern Natal youth choir
– Sibongasonke Ncube – Full Colours for Northern Natal youth choir
– Simphiwe Thango – Full Colours for Northern Natal youth choir
– Princess Simelane – Full Colours for Northern Natal youth choir
– Grace Wu – Full Colours for Gr 6 piano examination passed with distinction
– Dia Singh – Full Colours for Gr 6 piano examination passed with distinction
– Olwethu Ximba and Senate Lekholoane, for being chosen to participate in KrypCon in Cape Town – Full Colours Culture.

Sport:
– Lisa Conradie – Gold Scroll – KZN Inland Hockey u13
– Wandile Zulu – Gold Scroll – KZN Inland Hockey u13
– Qiniso Jiyane – Gold Scroll – NKZN Soccer u14
– Xoliswa Sithole – Honours – KZN Inland Hockey u16
– Motheo Ngobeni – Honours – KZN Inland Hockey u16
– Ciana Captain – Honours – KZN Inland Hockey u18
– Lonathemba Mazibuko – Honours – KZN Inland Hockey u18
– Thokozani Msimanga – Honours – KZN Inland Hockey u18
– Sibongasonke Ncube – Honours – Full Colours obtained in sport and culture.

Primary:
– Shajeeah Badloo – Gold Scroll for her two Kryptonite awards for Culture.

Following the formalities, learners sang the school song and National Anthem before classes resumed.
