School receives gift for National Book Week

The Little Library is a free exchange based on the concept of ‘take a book, return a book’.

South Africa commemorates National Book Week every first week of September. It is an initiative of the South African Book Development Council, in collaboration with the Department of Arts and Culture.

At St Dominics Newcastle, learners are continually encouraged to value reading as something fun, that can be easily fitted into their daily activities.

This week, the Service and Academic portfolios teamed up to gift the high school with their own Little Library in honour of National Book Week,” said representatives of the school.

The Little Library is a ‘take a book, return a book’ free book exchange. Anyone may take a book or bring a book to share and St Dominics encourages learners and parents to donate any suitable books to keep the Little Library operating.

The school thanked Mr Grossmark for building the little house and Miss Venter for painting it.

The Little Library belongs to everyone! Let’s keep reading and sharing our favourite books with one another.”
