Siphephelo receives national accolades from Curro

Siphephelo placed third in the country to receive a trophy and an award from the Curro Head Office.

St Dominics Newcastle has announced that Siphephelo Mabona, a Grade 10 Dramatic Arts learner, came third in the #Straight2Camera competition held by Curro.

In the first round of the competition, Siphephelo made it to the Top 15 from more than 200 entries. All Curro schools across the country enter learners in this challenging competition.

At the #Straight2Camera Monologue festival Awards Ceremony 2022, held on September 2, Siphephelo was awarded third place overall.

This is a phenomenal achievement as this means she was placed third in the country. This has earned her a special trophy and a set of ‘Theatre Wings’, a prestigious award created and handed over by Curro Head Office.

This demonstrates she can go against the best, as she is extremely talented.

Well done, Siphephelo, on an amazing achievement. We are so proud of you! You are a true ambassador of culture as well as of St Dominics Newcastle,” said school representatives.
