Impala showed their prowess on the field and clinched the victory

Drakensview Primary School held its inter-house athletics meeting on August 11.

This was the school’s first athletics meeting since 2019, due to Covid-19.

The four ‘houses’ (Duiker, Eland, Kudu and the newly-added Impala) competed for top honours.

The events that took place were as follows…

Field events: long jump and shot-put.

Track events: 1500m, 1200m, 800m, 200m, 100m, 80m and 4x100m relay.

The learners battled it out to secure victory for their respective houses and also to earn their spot in the Drakensview team that took part in the TDA inter-schools athletics meeting on August 18.

At the end of a long and competitive day, it was the newcomers, Impala, who placed first, with Eland in second, Kudu third, and Duiker in fourth and last place.
