Newcastle FCS secures life sentence for 38-year-old Madadeni rapist

A 38-year-old Madadeni man has been jailed for life for the rape of his niece in August 2021.

The case was investigated by the Newcastle Family Child Services (FCS) after a family member looked through a window to see the man committing the crime.

Both he and the victim were naked.

The alarm was raised and the girl was taken to hospital and the incident was reported to the SAPS.

Lizzy Arumugam, Newcastle SAPS spokesperson, said Sergeant TP Mduli led the investigation, which resulted in the conviction of the man.

On October 11, the Madadeni Regional Court finally sentenced him to life behind bars.

Amajuba District Commissioner, Major General FB Alexander, commended the sentencing and praised Detective Sergeant Mduli’s exceptional work in securing justice for the victim.

“The police remain steadfast in their commitment to protecting victims’ rights and ensuring justice is served,” she concluded.
