Hospice hosts pop-up shop in support of palliative care

Each and every purchase helps someone with a life-threatening illness

Today (October 12) is World Hospice Palliative Care Day (WHPCD).

To celebrate WHPCD locally, Ladysmith Hospice invites you to their first-ever pop-up coffee shop at their premises in Murchison Street, next to Build-It.

The pop-up shop will be open from 09:00 to 12:00 today, so pop in and show your support for a good cause.

This year marks 10 years since the World Health Assembly passed the only stand-alone resolution on palliative care, calling for all countries to “strengthen palliative care as a component of comprehensive care throughout the life course”.

Hospice is honouring the incredible value of selling second-hand goods to help provide first-class palliative care. Palliative care is the physical, psychological, social and spiritual care provided by an inter-disciplinary team of experts to anyone with a life-threatening illness and their loved ones. Care is offered from the point of diagnosis and extends to bereavement support if needed.

Every item purchased from Hospice thrift shops directly supports patients facing life-limiting illnesses.
