Mayor hands over renovated Dubazane house

No one is employed and the family survives by means of a government pension, so the municipal delegation also brought groceries as an added help

Yesterday (September 25), Inkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality (ILM) Mayor Mduduzi Myeza handed over a fully furnished house to the Dubazane family of Emahhashini, Wembezi, after the house had been renovated.

The mayor was accompanied by Deputy Mayor Sithabiso Dladla, Speaker SW Khumalo, Municipal Manager SB Khumalo, Ward 17 Councillor Mchunu and other councillors at the handover.

This comes after the family’s house was destroyed by heavy rain.

The family was identified during the 2023/2024 IDP / budget roadshow when the mayor and his council visited the Wembezi Cluster. It was brought to their attention that a pensioner was living in a dilapidated house that was further destroyed by heavy rainfall. The community at large urged the mayor to intervene in this matter.

“We are here today to officially open the Dubazane family house so that they can be like other families and not worry when it rains. We are here to fulfill the promises we made in November 2021 when we took our positions. We promised that we are here to work for the people. We want to make sure that our people see the difference when they compare this period to the previous period when the IFP was not in power,” said the mayor.
