Snow has started to fall on the northern Drakensberg, down Oliviershoek Pass. This comes after the freezing cold and rain that started yesterday afternoon (September 19).
The KZN Department of Co-operative Governance & Traditional Affairs (CoGTA) and South African Weather Services (SAWS) have warned of severe weather conditions, with rain, cold and snow in many areas including Estcourt, Ladysmith and Mooi River.
This icy, inclement weather is expected to last throughout the weekend.

CoGTA says this poses a danger to life and could lead to temporary road closures due to the accumulation of ice, causing traffic disruptions on major routes. So if you are planning to travel this weekend, exercise extreme caution or postpone your trip until the weather clears.
