Youth march against nepotism at Newcastle municipality

A group of young people, led by the MK Party and Team Sugar SA, marched to the Newcastle municipal offices this afternoon (September 13) to protest the ‘IFP jobs for party members’ scandal that has made headline news.

The scandal, which broke after a leaked WhatsApp message that was widely circulated, has sparked widespread condemnation.

The protesters called for an ‘end to nepotism in the municipality’s hiring practices.’

However, they were left frustrated when no municipal representatives came out to receive their memorandum. In response, the groups have pledged to organise another protest, involving more unemployed youth, until their concerns are addressed.
