Tugela hairstylists dazzle in whimsical hair show

The event, themed "Whispers in the Secret Garden," invited talented learners to make elaborate hair masterpieces, each created from their own unique vision of the enchanted theme.

In a dazzling celebration of creativity and imagination, Tugela Pre-Vocational School transformed its hall into a world of fantasy and wonder last Friday (August 30), for its eagerly awaited annual hair show.

Upon entering the hall, guests were greeted by fantasy-like, whimsical décor, a testament to the meticulous planning of the organizers, and an atmosphere brimming with excitement. Families filled the seats, eager to witness the results of their children’s creative and hard work.

One by one, models with vibrant, fairy-tale-inspired hairdos, adorned with flowers and magical accents, paraded down the runway, eliciting thunderous applause from an enthusiastic audience of learners, teachers, and loved ones. The show was not just about hair; it was a celebration of creativity and community.

Principal, Riaan du Plessis, took to the stage to show the students how to work the runway. “Nerve-wrecking is the words that come to mind when you go out on the runway,” he joked.

The judging panel, consisting of Mariska, Estella Chetty, and Tara Wood, faced the tough task of selecting the best from a sea of extraordinary entries.

After a lively interlude featuring student dance performances, the moment of truth arrived. The room fell into an expectant hush before erupting into cheers and applause as Siyamnthanda Zikhali was announced as the model of the competition. Overwhelmed with joy, she gracefully accepted her crown and sash.

Special congratulations go to Samantha Truter and her model, Denise Parker, who secured third place, while Siphosethu Dlamini and Siyamthanda Zikhali took the second spot. The top honour went to Tristan Rothman and his model, Angela Roodt, who dazzled the judges and audience alike to claim the coveted first place.

“It’s always such an awesome experience to let these girls showcase talents. They enjoy it so much and really show their inner beauty, confidence and skill,” said organiser Charné Rudolph.

The Tugela Pre-Vocational Hair Show has evolved into a cherished annual tradition, reflecting the school’s dedication to nurturing students’ passions and displaying their growing talents.

“What an extravaganza it turned out to be. Well done to every stylist and model,” said Du Plessis.
