At least one man was shot dead in an apparent ambush this morning (August 27) near the Indoor Sports Complex. People who heard the shots while at Wimpy, just after 10:20, say that whoever the gunmen were, they really wanted the person dead.
The first round of shots could be clearly heard and then after a short gap, there was another long burst of gunfire as they ‘finished the guy off’.
According to a person who was nearby (requesting to remain anonymous), the gunmen had automatic rifles.
The victim was travelling in a red sedan when his vehicle was apparently raked with gunfire, forcing the car to veer off the road and down an embankment before coming to a halt.
According to reports, two other people were injured and rushed to hospital.
