Estcourt MKP member wants his CoGTA job back

Makuyi wants to be reinstated at Cogta, as he believes he was unfairly dismissed

Umkhonto Wesizwe Party uThukela region spokesperson Mncedisi Makuyi has written to KZN Co-operative Governance & Traditional Affairs (CoGTA) MEC Reverend Thulasizwe Buthelezi to look at his dismissal.

Makuyi, who is very active in the MKP in the uThukela District (particularly Estcourt), was a provincial deputy director for Fire & Disaster at CoGTA before being removed from his position.

In his submission, Makuyi stated that he was dismissed for ditching work. However, he argues that he took ‘legal leave’ for those days.

Makuyi believes that his dismissal in June was caused by him being actively associated with the MKP.

CoGTA could not be reached for comment in this regard.

Makuyi told the Estcourt News that, “My dismissal comes after I took leave that the employer was aware of, including the director, chief director and HR. What surprises me is that I was sacked for absconding while they knew where I was. What also surprises me is that the dismissal letter was signed on May 27, but I got it on June 27.”
