CoGTA introduces new Administrator at uThukela
The Administrator has been tasked to come up with a recovery plan
KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Co-operative Governance & Traditional Affairs (CoGTA) Rev Thulasizwe Buthelezi has replaced Mr JN Madondo with Dr VJ Mthembu as the new Administrator for uThukela District Municipality.
This was announced on Tuesday (July 23) by Deputy Director-General Mr M Khathide during a special council meeting held at the Agra Crescent Hall in Ladysmith. Mr Khathide reminded the uThukela District Council that the municipality was placed under Administration in 2018.

He raised serious concerns that the municipality is not showing any signs of improvement, despite being under Administration for the past eight years, alluding to the fact that this is the basis for the MEC’s decision to ‘fire’ the previous Ministerial Representative, who failed to provide a credible turnaround strategy for the municipality.
