St. Martins Village Kids Fun Fair
July 27: St. Martins Village will host its Kids Fun Fair from 13:00 to 16:00 at the Lutheran Church at 11 Ouklip Avenue in Hutten Heights. Activities will be as follows: rides, face painting, games, music, food stalls, market stalls, and live performances. The entrance fee will be R50 per child and free for adults. All kiddie activities, games, and performances are included in the entrance fee, and there will be prizes up for grabs.

Show off your ride-motoring festival
August 3:
 
The 2024 Show Off Your Ride Motoring Festival will take place at Blackrock Casino from 10:00 a.m. General access is R150, and Web tickets are available at R100.
Bas Padel Ladies Tournament
August 10: The Bas Padel Ladies Tournament will take place at Ferrum High School (6 Aquamarine Drive) from 08:00 to 20:00. Entrance is R500 per team. A winning prize of R3,000 is up for grabs. Book your spot via Playtomic.

Drakies Annual Golf Day
August 10:
Drakensberg Primary School will host its annual golf day at the Newcastle Golf Club at 10:30. The format will be a 2-ball scramble drive. Entrance costs R250 per person and includes halfway house and green fees. Contact 073 165 9007 for more information.

Astronomy evening with Angus Burns and Celestron
August 16:
St. Dominics Newcastle will once again host the popular and much anticipated astronomy evening with Angus Burns and Celestron at the Douthwaite Centre. Ring your friends and family for a night filled with celestial wonders and engaging activities. Highlights of the evening include: Special guest speaker: Mr. Timothy Cooper from the Astronomical Society of South Africa will share fascinating insights on comets, space debris, asteroids, and meteorites. Newcastle Senior Primary School to host Flea Market and Family Fun Day
August 17:
The NSPS Flea Market and Family Fun Day will take place from 10:00 to 18:00. Activities include: Mr. and Mrs. NSPS Pageant, horse rides, race car displays, flea market stalls, soccer tournaments, inflatable obstacle courses, circus clown shows, and magic tricks.The entry fee will be R40 per adult, R20 per child under 13, and R30 per pensioner. Hindu Dharma Newcastle to host the 25th Annual Indra Pooja and Maha Yajna
August 25:
The Hindu Dharma Newcastle will host the 25th Annual Indra Pooja and Maha Yajna for rain, grain, health, peace, and prosperity at 07:00 at the corner of Dixon and St. Thomas Streets. The programme includes a peace walk, which starts at 6:30; an interfaith prayer; discourse; devotional bhajans; parsadh; and lunch.

La Gratitude Home for the Aged is looking for board members
Vacancies exist for members of the community to serve on La Gratitude Home for the Aged’s Board of Control. The Board of Control also oversees the following sub-committees monthly: the Finance Committee, Personnel and Management Committee, Maintenance Committee, Health, Safety, and Environment Committee, and Employment Equity Committee.
