A truck burst into flames this morning (July 24) on the N3 highway. The incident happened in the early hours of the morning; about 3am. No other vehicle was involved.
The truck owner, who also responded to the scene, commented that his driver was not injured. The truck, however, was totally destroyed and only the trailer was left with no major damages.
“We can think of no other reason for the accident other than that a tyre burst while travelling towards Johannesburg and the fire started as a result,” said the owner.

Traffic was delayed while recovery operations took place. Towing services were at the scene and traffic police made sure that other vehicles passed by safely.
Meanwhile, an accident involving two trucks took place on the N3 near Midway at around 4am. One of the trucks was transporting bags of powder. N3TC, towing services and police responded to the scene.
The drivers were not injured in the crash.
Both scenes have since been cleared.
