Mayor hands over gardening tools in Tsakane

"We are on a journey of bringing services aimed at benefiting our citizens through self-help and self-reliance" said the municipality

A delegation from Alfred Duma Local Municipality, led by Mayor Zama Sibisi, visited Ward 9 in Tsakane last Wednesday (July 17) with the aim of handing over gardening tools to Imbaliyetsakane Co-operative Garden through the LED programme.

“We note that the work you are doing in this garden puts food on the table for members of the co-op. You are paying bills and schools from this garden. It is for these reasons that we have decided to lend a hand by bringing this material. We are urging all municipal community members to start gardens in order to sustain their lives and to teach the next generation about self-help and self-reliance,” said the mayor.

Local community members warmly welcomed the material brought by the mayor. The jovial mood clearly showed their appreciation and they sang happily upon receiving the tools. The garden was established by women and men within the area to improve their lives while educating the next generation.

The gardening tools handed over to the co-operative included 20 fences, 20 fencing poles, seeds and fertilizer. The mayor promised the members that the municipality would also send a tractor to assist them.
