uThukela mayor gets hands-on with repairs in Pendy Street

Water has been pouring out of the leak for the past 4 years

uThukela Mayor Inkosi NB Shabalala took it upon himself to personally respond to a water leak in Pendy Street today (July 17).

The mayor said he was driving around and happened to notice the leak.

“I then spoke to a homeowner nearby and she told me the leak has been there for the past four years. She said our employees used to come and make an excuse that they would need a TLB to fix it and then leave without doing anything.

“That was very disappointing, hence I called a team to urgently come and fix the leak, which they did in less than an hour. From now on, I will be driving around town monitoring the work,” said Shabalala.
