Shutdown of Ladysmith Water Treatment Works

It might take up to five days to get the system back to normal again

uThukela District Municipality hereby informs the community of Alfred Duma Local Municipality that the Ladysmith Water Treatment Works has been shut down.

This is due to recent strong winds that have posed a challenge to water supply from the Spioenkop Dam line.

This has eventually led to lower reservoir levels, which in turn has caused silt to build up and be pumped into the system.

“We are now busy with the purification process and building up the reservoirs. It may take three to five days to get the system back to normal operation.”

The following areas are likely to be affected by water interruptions: Danskraal Industrial Area, Limit Hill, Modelkloof, Mkhamba Gardens, Observation Hill, Egerton, parts of Steadville Area J, St Chad’s, the CBD, Van Riebeeck Park, and Roosboom.

The community is also urged to boil water before consumption.

uThukela apologises for any inconvenience caused.
