Police sniffer dog helps find missing youngster

An 18-year-old male went missing on Monday afternoon in the Banakile area of Hlobane. The teenager’s disappearance was reported to police on Wednesday, and Vryheid K9 Search & Rescue was called to search for the young man. K9 sniffer dog Achil found a takkie and family members confirmed that it belonged to the missing teen. The search continued until the youngster was located on a mountain, half naked and dehydrated. He was rescued and taken to the main road, where he was treated before the KwaZulu Private Ambulance Service transferred him to a nearby clinic. The reason for the disappearance has been attributed to ‘a personal matter’.
