The event included various sporting codes, and winners were celebrated with trophies and medals.

The Newcastle Municipality hosted its annual Employee Wellness Day at the Arbor Park Sports Ground on June 14 which it says demonstrates the municipality’s commitment to the wellbeing of employees.

According to the municipality’s communications department, the programme assisted in addressing personal, social, and work-related challenges, focusing on holistic wellness to improve job satisfaction and performance.

Mayor Xolani Dube emphasised the importance of employee wellness, encouraging camaraderie, self-enrichment, and good health.

He highlighted the value of prevention over cure, urging employees to prioritise early detection and self-care.

“We are dedicated to building better communities by investing in employee wellness and development,” the municipality said in a statement.

“By prioritising well-being and providing growth opportunities, the municipality creates a positive and supportive environment that benefits everyone.”
