Will town have water over holiday weekend?

There are massive leaks in Hospital Park and Modelkloof

The big question on everyone’s lips is: Will Ladysmith have water over the holiday weekend?

The answer to that question remains unclear, as the water leak at the corner of Buller Road and Farquhar Road remains unfixed.

Repairs on a burst mainline water pipe began yesterday (June 12), but when the repairs were done and they began re-opening the line, a second burst ruptured the line. As of this morning, no teams from uThukela had arrived to begin repairs.

To compound this situation, there are several smaller leaks all over Hospital Park.

Adding to this is a burst pipe in Windsor Road, Modelkloof, which has also not been repaired, resulting in the entire area (Modelkloof, Limit Hill and Danskraal) being without water.

Repairs to the mainline water pump station at Spioenkop are also still underway.
