Update: ‘Possible tornado’ wreaks havoc in Maskraal
The alleged tornado has left a wake of destruction in its path after it was spotted by motorists and locals shortly after 13:00.
The tornado-like image captured on camera shortly after 13:00 this afternoon (June 3) has caused chaos in the vicinity of Maskraal and Madadeni’s Section 7.
Charles Steyn of Magenta Medical Services said houses in the area have been damaged with roofs reportedly ripped off.
He added that injuries have been reported, but the severity of these is not yet known.

A request for clarification on whether this was a tornado was made to the South African Weather Service, but no response was received by the time of publication.
