Young man dies after brutal attack

Police said the victim and another young man had been tending to their family's cattle

The body of a 19-year-old man was recovered on Monday near Mondlo after he had been brutally assaulted by stock thieves last Friday.
Police said the victim and another young man had been tending to their family’s cattle at Mhlongo farm in Mondlo when they were attacked by men intent on stealing their stock.
One of those who was attacked managed to flee to a nearby house where he was cared for and taken to hospital.
However, his co-worker was left for dead by his attackers.
Members of the SAPS Stock Theft Unit called the Vryheid K9 Search & Rescue Unit and K9 sniffer dog, Achil, located the body after a 4km walk. According to information, the suspects are well-known in the area and a case of murder has been opened.
