After moving to Nelspruit 10 years ago, local make-up artist and ‘glam guru,’ Keshira Ramsahayee, is once again putting roots down in Newcastle.

She is now more determined than ever to get her make-up studio up and running and looks forward to reconnecting with old and new friends.

Keshira (34) is a talented and dedicated make-up artist who has already made waves in her industry by working in top-tier beauty pageants such as the Miss and Mr Deaf World pageants, Miss and Mrs Mpumalanga pageants, and Miss India pageants.

Who is Keshira?
Keshira was born in Newcastle on May 18, 1989. She attended Suryaville Primary School and later matriculated from St. Oswalds Secondary School.

She met the love of her life, Vijen Ramsahayee, and the couple decided to tie the knot during an intimate wedding ceremony in 2015 and later welcomed the births of their two children.

Keshira said she initially aspired to become an accountant and applied to university to further her studies in the accounting field.

However, shortly after being accepted, she changed her mind, and her life took a completely different course.

“I remember thinking that I was just too creative to be confined to sitting behind a desk all day long. So I decided to attend beauty school in Durban where I would be able to embrace my creativity.”

She continued: “I have never looked back or regretted my decision because that decision has allowed me to become my own boss, own my own business, and work my own hours.” For the past 10 years, Keshira has resided in Nelspruit, where she owned a make-up studio.

She and her family decided to move back to town in January after they realised they wanted to be back home and closer to their families.

“Newcastle is home; it feels like home, and this is where our families reside. I want my children to be closer to their cousins. It is just comfortable, and everything is closer here, so deciding to move back was an easy decision,” she said.

Great achievements as a make-up artist:
Her most recent achievement was being hired as a make-up artist on The Real Housewives of Mpumalanga and Limpopo, which will finally air on TV in the next few months.

“This was such a fun experience. We filmed all day and got to know every one of the housewives. These ladies are all so unique and different, but all so successful in their own right and it was really special learning their stories and backgrounds. It was an experience which I am so grateful for,” she said.

Aside from being one of the best in her field, she has also helped judge a variety of beauty pageants in Nelspruit.

These consisted of Miss and Mrs Mpumalanga, Lowveld’s Got Talent, and Miss India. “These experiences were all just amazing experiences, and I got to meet so many different people from all walks of life,” she said.

A mind for business:
Keshira will be opening her make-up studio in Newcastle, and she will also be bringing a unique and new make-up brand with her, which is currently not sold here.

She will also be hosting a make-up master class with the owner of the brand, Louis Volschenk, in the upcoming months, offering basic make-up applications and other beauty tips and tricks.
