The aim of the engagement was to inform and educate the learners about crime-related issues. On the agenda was ‘drug and alcohol abuse’ and the ‘consequences of criminal offences’. Other topics were HIV/AIDS, the importance of abstinence, and rape.

The purpose was to give the learners confidence and for them to take pride in themselves, in order to be able to build positive and healthy relationships at school with fellow learners and teachers.

According to the stakeholders, crime awareness is a way of trying to instil good values in learners in order to raise an educated and respectful youth.

Other schools that were visited were Sizakahle High School, Steadville Secondary School and Bhevu High School.
