Mourners praise Sithole for his bravery

The IFP feels disoriented ahead of the elections, saying that Sithole would have been in the forefront

Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) members in the uThukela District gathered in numbers at the Weenen Tennis Ground yesterday (February 2) for the funeral service of late member and Imbabazane constituency interim chairperson Mthokozisi Sithole.

Sithole was gunned down on Saturday, January 27.

Among the IFP dignitaries who attended the service were the IFP KwaZulu-Natal chairperson, mayor of King Cetshwayo District Municipality, IFP KZN Premier candidate Thami Ntuli, uMlalazi Local Municipality mayor TQ Xulu, Inkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality Mayor Mduduzi Myeza, uThukela District Municipality Speaker Lihle Nqubuka and many others.

At the service, the Sithole family described the deceased as a very intelligent and curious individual who, even at a young age, was always asking questions and was not afraid to challenge decisions when he believed they were wrong.

Inkosi Langalibalele speaker Siphiwe Khumalo described Sithole as someone who would always be available to help the party in whatever way possible. “When we were campaigning in Ward 11 before the by-election, Sithole supported the campaign by giving a whole cow to the IFP volunteers, from his own pocket.”

Addressing the packed marquee of mourners and IFP supporters, Thami Ntuli complimented Sithole as someone who stood his ground, knowing very well that the incidents of killings in the uThukela District are very high. Ntuli further complimented Sithole’s parents for giving him an education.

Speaking to the Estcourt News, Ntuli slammed the violence and the killings that are linked to politics in the province, especially when no one is arrested and brought to book.
