A local non-profit organisation known as New Life Begins held an event for maidens earlier this month at the Town Hall.
The aim of the event was to motivate the maidens (virgins) and reinforce the seriousness of abstinence.

Ntuthuko Thabede, who is the founder of the organisation, said, “With the release of statistics from the Department of Health regarding the high rise of pregnancy in 2023, we saw the need to organise such a gathering in order to reinforce the seriousness and importance of abstinence to the maidens. Whatever direction each individual is taking, be it going back to school or work, we want them to always remember the value and importance of their virginity,” said Thabede.
The maidens were awarded certificates of appreciation to encourage them to continue keeping their virginity.
