Dry taps due to flooding of water works

Debris is currently being removed from the pumps

The Ezakheni Water Treatment Works was flooded due to the heavy rain experienced a few days ago.

According to uThukela, their technical team went out yesterday (January 10) and managed to remove most of the silt and debris from the pumps.

Work to remove more debris is currently underway.

However, due to persistent load-shedding yesterday, uThukela say they were unable to pump water to the reservoirs. As a result, all areas that are supplied by this plant are currently experiencing water shortages.

“We will keep the community updated on the latest developments. Apologies for the inconvenience this may have caused,” said uThukela spokesperson Jabulani Mkhonza.
