Dundee Bowls Club congratulates those who excelled both on and off the greens in 2023

Trophies were presented to the 2023 club competition winners by president Greg.

Dundee Bowling Club’s annual prize-giving was held on Friday evening, with president Greg Conolly putting members through their paces in his usual easy-going, inimitable style.
The evening was attended by members, house members and friends of the club.

The evening included a light finger snack dinner and a get-together to say thank you to the members for their unwavering support throughout the year.

Trophies were presented to the 2023 club competition winners by president Greg.
In addition, Greg also handed out the following awards:
Stirrer of the Year – Jannie Strydom. This was well deserved and Jannie immediately put in a performance that would guarantee him as a frontrunner for the same award in 2024.
Most Improved Male Bowler – Rudi Guelpa.
Most Improved Woman Bowler – Melanie Guelpa.
Men’s Player of the Year – Ian de Jager.
Woman Player of the Year – Rita Meyer.
President’s Award – Barbara Strydom and Yvonne Stuart for their sterling work done for the club over the past year.
Mixed Pairs – Rita Meyer and Ian de Jager.
Handicap singles: men – Greg Conolly; ladies – Jo-Ann Conolly.
Open singles: men – Ian de Jager; ladies: Rita Meyer.
Veteran singles: men – Louis de Jager; ladies: Sylvia Malan.
Nominated pairs: men – Jacques Bierbaum and Ian de Jager.
In his speech, Greg said that the players had produced the highest calibre of bowls over the past year, noting that the spirt in the club is ‘phenomenal’.
“Everyone has assured the success of the club in 2023.
“Those who look after the greens, serve at the bar and are behind the catering.
“Thank you for everything!”
The bowls club will host the Adult Centre Day on December 17.
Greg concluded by wishing those present a blessed Christmas and prosperous 2024.
