Three armed robbery suspects nabbed following shoot-out with police officers

Cases of business robbery, attempted murder and possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition have been opened at Nhlanhleni SAPS.

Three men wanted in connection with a string of armed robberies were arrested on Saturday following a shoot-out with police in the Nhlanhleni (Pomeroy) area.
“Nhlanhleni Vispol and detective units reacted swiftly after receiving information about six men travelling in a vehicle in the area.
“Information was received that the gang was behind several armed robberies at various businesses in the Uitval area,” said SAPS spokesperson Constable Siyabonga Nkwanyana.
Upon spotting police, the suspects opened fire and the officers retaliated.
No one was injured in the shoot-out.
Police managed to apprehend three of the men, while the other three fled the scene.
Three firearms with ammunition, a motor vehicle, and items from the shops were recovered. The investigation continues.
Umzinyathi District Commissioner Major General Francis Slambert applauded all the members involved and passed on her gratitude for such bravery in the line of duty.
