Tin shack catches fire in Poona Road

No one was injured in the blaze

Public Safety and Alfred Duma fire-fighters rushed out to extinguish a fire that started in a tin shack in Poona Road on Tuesday morning (November 21). People in the area were unsure how the ‘house’ caught alight.

Speaking to Acaciavale CPF member Kaveer Rajkumaar, he said that even though the incident was in the Leonardsville area, they helped to put out the fire. They used a normal garden hose before fire-fighters arrived, as they were afraid that the fire would spread to a thatch-roof building next-door.

Rajkumaar added that no one was injured during the fire, as the structure was used as a storage shed. “Communities should be able to stand together and help one another, even if they are not from the same area. A big thanks goes out to the public and all the community members who assisted at the scene,” he said.
