Youth Brigade encourages the young ones to vote

The countdown to the 2024 national and provincial elections has begun

The Inkatha Freedom Party Youth Brigade (IFPYB) chairperson in the Ndaka/Mnambithi region, Ntuthuko Thabede, has pleaded with youth above the age of 16 to register to vote this coming weekend.

The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) has announced Saturday (November 18) as Voter Registration Weekend Day 1 for the 2024 Elections.

All South African citizens aged 16 or older can register to vote (but to vote, you need to be 18 or older).

To register, you need a South African identity document – either a green bar-coded ID book, an ID smart card or a valid temporary ID certificate.

You must also provide an address or description of where you live so that the IEC can place you in the correct ward and voting district. However, no proof of address is needed.

You can register at all 22,300 voting stations countrywide between 08:00 and 17:00.

“The youth are no longer interested in voting, simply because they see little to no difference in their lives. Unemployment and empty promises by political parties has a huge impact. We are encouraging them to go out to register so that they can vote and change those in power,” said Thabede.
