Diwali greetings to all celebrating

Fireworks will light up the sky in every corner of the globe today

The Ladysmith Gazette would like to wish a happy Diwali to those who are celebrating today (November 12).

Diwali or Deepavali is the biggest and brightest of all Hindu / Tamil festivals.

It is the Festival of Lights: ‘deep’ means ‘light’ and ‘avali’ means ‘a row’ or ‘a row of lights’.

Diwali is marked by four days of celebration which literally illuminates the country with its brilliance and dazzles all with its joy.

Each of the four days is marked by a different tradition. However, what remains true and constant is the celebration of life, its enjoyment and a great sense of goodness. The festival signifies the triumph of good over evil and light over darkness.

We wish all our Hindu readers a blessed day!
